SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 23-year-old man has been arraigned in connection with a drive-by shooting in Syracuse that killed a baby and injured two other young girls as they rode in a car with their mothers.
Chavez Ocasio pleaded not guilty Tuesday and is being held without bail on charges of murder, evidence tampering, weapons possession and a parole violation.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that a judge has granted a prosecutor's request to seal court records in the case to protect the ongoing investigation.
Ocasio’s attorney could not be reached for comment after the proceeding. The children were struck by gunfire shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.
