TRENTON, N.Y. – Three people were treated after being exposed to a rabid cow in the town of Trenton recently.
The Oneida County Health Department said the cow was sent to Wadsworth Center Laboratory in Albany on Oct. 15. The lab confirmed the cow was positive for rabies the following day.
Those who were exposed are receiving treatment.
The health department reminds residents to stay away from animals that are acting strange, angry or foaming from the mouth.
Dogs and cats must get rabies vaccinations at three months old, one year old and once every three years after that.
