UTICA, N.Y. – A Utica man has been charged with third-degree assault after his 3-year-old daughter was sent to the hospital with a broken femur last week.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office’s Child Advocacy Center was notified on Sept. 12 that the toddler had been admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital for surgery on the broken bone.
Investigators say 35-year-old Desmond Anthony was allegedly flipping his daughter in the air and allowing her to land uncontrollably on furniture, leading to her injury.
Anthony was arrested on Monday, Sept. 20, and charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Anthony was arraigned and released.
The Child Advocacy Center has issued an order of protection on the 3-year-old’s behalf.
