UTICA – Jury selection for the Kaitlyn Conley murder retrial is underway in Oneida County Court.
Conley, 24, of Sauquoit, is accused of poisoning her chiropractor boss, Dr. Mary Yoder, to death in 2015. She’s charged with second-degree murder, and her first trial ended with a hung jury and a mistrial in May.
A total of 130 potential jurors have been called to report for jury selection. The jury pool is larger than the typical 40-50 potential jurors because of the extensive media coverage of the case, and because the trial is expected to take three weeks, making it difficult to find jurors who are able to commit that much time.
Judge Michael Dwyer has set aside today and tomorrow for jury selection. If the jury is seated early then opening arguments could begin Friday, but witness testimony will not begin until Monday.
