HERKIMER – A Herkimer man is facing charges after he was allegedly found to be searching through other people’s vehicles, according to the Herkimer Police Department.
Eighteen-year-old Matthew Sierant is charged with third-degree criminal tampering, attempted petit larceny and trespass.
Herkimer police say that between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, they received several calls reporting that someone was going through vehicles in the area of Bellinger Avenue and Margaret Street.
Police were given a description of the suspect and they say they found Sierant on Main Street, who was identified by one of the callers as the man who was rummaging through their vehicle.
Sierant was arraigned in the Village of Herkimer Court and released on his own recognizance, and he’ll appear back in court at a later date.
