Erin Hamlin in 5th place after Runs 1 and 2 of women's singles luge

After the first two runs in women’s singles luge, Remsen native Erin Hamlin is in 5th place out of 29.

After the first two runs in women’s singles luge, Remsen native Erin Hamlin is in 5th place out of 29. Currently in first place is Natalie Geisenberger of Germany.

According to NBC, Hamlin was .045 seconds out of third place. In 2014, she became the first American to win a medal in singles luge. This weekend Chris Mazdzer became the first American male to medal in singles luge.

The two final rounds of women’s singles luge will begin at 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday. To watch Run 3 and Run 4 live on Tuesday, click here.

Whichever luger has the fastest cumulative time of all four runs will win the gold medal.

In Remsen on Monday morning, local fans gathered for viewing parties at Stinger’s Bar & Grill in Remsen and at the Remsen High School. The high school will be hosting a viewing party Tuesday morning as well.
