Herkimer woman accused of welfare fraud

A Herkimer woman is facing felony charges for alleged welfare fraud, according to the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office.

A Herkimer woman is facing felony charges for alleged welfare fraud, according to the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office.

Johanna Torres, 25, is charged with felony fourth-degree welfare fraud, felony fourth-degree grand larceny and felony first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

Deputies say Torres allegedly received more than $2,000 worth of benefits that she wasn’t eligible to receive.

Torres was processed on the charges and released on an appearance ticket for the Village of Herkimer Court at a later date.
