NEW HARTFORD, NY – A local New Hartford boy celebrated his birthday in a very special way Saturday.
He had his very own birthday parade.
5-year-old Todd Toomey was unable to have a birthday party this year because of the coronavirus, so family and friends presented him with a very special birthday parade.
They drove by his house honking horns and holding up happy birthday signs.
“I felt bad we had to cancel Todd’s birthday party,” said Holly Toomey, Todd’s mom.
“So I got the idea to go on Facebook and ask our friends and family if they’d be willing to participate in a little parade today.”
Todd is a big fan of fire trucks, so members of the New Hartford fire department, and other first responders, also participated.
“It’s a difficult time for everybody,” said New Hartford fire department 1st captain, Steven Karrat.
“We all have to do our part to keep everybody sane, healthy, and happy.”
