New Hartford, N.Y.- The New Hartford Shopping Center was buzzing Thursday evening, but not with shoppers.
The 60th annual Fire Truck Spectacular was held at the shopping center, and featured fire trucks from Departments in Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison Counties.
The public was able to vote for their favorite fire apparatus, and there were also contests for who could put their turnout gear on the fastest, and even eating ice cream.
The event chairman Roy Schultz from the New Hartford Fire Department told NewsChannel 2 that the event is a good way for the public to view some of the new and old fire apparatus from all over, and the event is also a great way for the fire departments to network with one another.
“Antiques, and current equipment, some of it’s brand new. Hasn’t been seen by the general public yet, and we just let everybody take a look, see what’s new.” Schultz said.
The New Hartford Fire Department holds the Fire Truck Spectacular every year in the month of July, at The New Hartford Shopping Center parking lot.
