UTICA, N.Y. – A 52-year-old Utica man is accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl and threatening to harm her if she told anyone.
Ricky Thompson is charged with second-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
On Jan. 8, someone reported the alleged abuse to the Child Advocacy Center, saying it happened in Utica in October of 2019.
After an joint investigation by Utica Police Department and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Thompson was arrested on Monday, Feb. 8.
Thompson was remanded to the Oneida County jail. Bail was set at $1,500 cash or $3,000 bond for the abuse charges, but Thompson is being held without bail for violating parole.
An order of protection was also requested on the victim’s behalf.
