ROME, N.Y.-It was a beautiful night for an outdoor movie at Franklyn’s Field in Rome Friday.
The city held an outdoor viewing of the film the sandlot. Families came out with their own blankets, chairs, and snacks, but there were food trucks on hand as well.
One of the food trucks provided free ice cream for the kids. The event was sponsored by the Rome Police Department’s “Kops 4 Kids” program, and the city itself.
The City of Rome Marketing Coordinator Makenzi Enos says around 200 people usually come out for the outdoor movies and it’s a fun way to get out in the summer.
"Every year we do a couple of movies so this is just one of the fun things that you can use one of your parks in kind of a different way, so we're showing a movie outdoors for people to come in and enjoy.” Enos said.
The City of Rome has another fun event planned for Monday August 26th. A food truck rally is planned for 6:00 pm on the City Hall Green. The rally is in conjunction with the Monday Night concert series featuring the band DuBonnet.
The event is free and open to the public.
