ROME, N.Y.- A new distribution facility is coming to Rome.
Orgill plans to build a $70 million warehouse on Atlas Drive near Griffiss International Airport.
Plans for the project were approved at Tuesday night’s Common Council meeting at Rome City Hall.
The Tennessee based company plans to build an 802,680 square foot warehouse and distribution center. It will create 225 new jobs, and a parking lot, loading docks, landscaping, and lighting would be installed at the Atlas Drive location.
The CFO of Orgill Eric Divelbiss says that the Rome location had the size Orgill wanted, which was why they chose it for the warehouse.
“We have a site selection expert that we employ. We had originally over 50 sites, not here in Rome but in the Northeast. This particular site just in terms of its size just worked out best to put a warehouse of that size on.” Divelbiss said.
Orgill plans to begin site work on the project this fall. They hope to open the facility by January 2022.
