UTICA- The community came together on Staurday morning to help raise money for the area's veterans.
The Veterans Outreach Center of Utica held a run and walk for people to participate in.
The event was held at Proctor Park and was the fifth one the organization has ever had. The course went 3.5 miles cutting through Proctor Park and other parts of the city.
Organizers for the event said, the race is important for raising awareness for veterans in the area. " We have so many homeless veterans out there living on the streets and they don't have the outlets that we have at the Veterans Outreach Center," said Nicole Hilley, who is a part of the orgnaization. She also said it's important to recognize veterans everyday.
All proceeds from the event go to the Veterans Outreach Center.
