ONEONTA, N.Y. – Seven new Oneonta police officers took their oath in an outdoor swearing in ceremony Monday morning.
Acting Police Chief Christopher Witzenberg said this was the largest class of officers appointed to the force at one time.
Six men and one woman were sworn in, and have officially joined the ranks at the department.
The City of Oneonta Police Department welcomed seven new officers to its ranks this morning. Congratulations and we wish you many safe, healthy, years of service.
The ceremony was livestreamed on the department’s Facebook page at 10 a.m.
Witzenberg says this was a “light at the end of the tunnel” after what’s been a trying year for many since the start of the pandemic.
