WHITESBORO, N.Y. - At Accelerate Sports, Kristin's Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to domestic violence prevention, teamed up with the Utica College Football team in the return of the "A Call to Men Football Camp".
The two-day camp allowed middle and high-schoolers to work alongside Pioneers players, head coach, Blaise Faggiano, and the rest of the U-C staff.
Outside of the football development that having this camp allows for the young players, the overall message of the camp is much deeper than what happens on the field.
Joe Palumbo, the founder of Kristin's Fund, played college football with coach Faggiano at Ithaca College, and knew this opportunity had to be taken.
During the camp, the players perform on-field drills, then listen and interact with A Call to Men trainers as they learn about character development and healthy masculinity.
Palumbo, who created the foundation in honor of his sister, Kristin, who was killed in an act of domestic violence, says it's a chance for the younger generations to learn real life lessons that are invaluable moving forward.
