LITTLE FALLS – ‘A Quiet Place’ sequel is in the works. The Little Falls community remembers fondly the shooting of the original movie in their city.

After a successful movie release for ‘A Quiet Place’, director John Krasinski announced on social media that the movie is headed for the big screen for a second time.

The first movie brought large crowds to Valley Cinema in Little Falls.

“Just knowing that a movie was shot here people were coming down like, ‘we noticed that the place was closed down’,” said Valley Cinema manager Devan Durkee. “We saw that a movie was being produced and we wanted to come and see it. We actually have people that were also people that have come in for hundreds of films as well saying like, ‘we've seen that it’s like this horror film and we're not really into horror films but we want to see it because we want to support the community’.”

‘A Quiet Place 2’ comes out in May of 2020. That has the manager at the local theatre thinking ahead about screenings.

“How are we going to schedule the showtimes,” Durkee said. “How many theatres are we going to use, how many people do we think we're going to have, should we do advance sale tickets, limited seats only? There's a lot of factors to play into because I remember last year and it was a bit hectic.”

‘A Quiet Place’ won several awards and was nominated for an Oscar. ‘A Quiet Place 2’ is expected to begin filming in July.

A Quiet Place was one of the top earning movies in 2018, raking in 340 million dollars worldwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film follows a family forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters.

Durkee says he is looking forward to the sequel.

“I’m hoping to see more information about the creatures,” Durkee said. “The creatures, the back story with the families that aren't just the mains, like with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski’s character and their family. I'm more interested in the families that are surrounding. How did they come to terms with these silent creatures?”
