UTICA, N.Y. -- A nurse who worked at Faxton - St. Luke's Healthcare for 47 years has retired Friday. That didn't happen without a big celebration.
A drive-by party was planned on the St. Luke's campus for Karen Peters. Cars were decorated with paint, posters, and balloons. Many of her friends are working from home, but wanted to see Karen on her last day, so they all came out to show their appreciation for everything shes contributed as a nurse.
One of her friends, and also a registered nurse at St. Luke's, Geralynn Owens, said "Karen for 47 years has brought comfort, compassion, hope, courage, faith, and love to all of her patients, her co-workers, and everyone who has been blessed by her presence. She is going to be missed dearly."
Mrs. Peters has touched the lives of many, but now plans to spend more time on herself and relax during her retirement.
