ILION, NY – Santa Claus made a special trip to Ilion Sunday to help light the village Christmas tree.

He arrived escorted by the Ilion and Frankfort fire departments as eager youngsters strained their necks for a glimpse of the jolly old elf.

After lighting the tree, everyone made their way into the Ilion Knights of Columbus, to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas and receive a special gift from one of his special helpers.

Alisa Ferraro is one of those helpers.

“I was a case manager prior to this, and I know from personal experience the children need stuff like this. They need the donations to make sure they’re getting a Christmas gift every year. That’s what the parents rely on. So I do think it’s crucial to have these events to help the families.”
