March has started out cold in Central New York, but this is about to change! A warm front is moving through the region this evening and is expected to produce scattered flurries overnight with little accumulation. Overnight lows fall into the upper 20s.
Tuesday looks to be the transition day. We start out very cloudy, with temperatures in the mid 30s. Clouds will very slowly give way to sunshine late in the day. Highs climb into the low to mid 40s. The surge of spring like warmth arrives on Wednesday, with sunshine and highs in the upper 50s to near 60!
These changes in temperature should bring out quite a bit of sap flow over the next few days. Sap production is based on temperatures climbing above freezing during the day and below freezing at night. Here's a look at the maple sap forecast for those interested:
