UTICA, NY – Children, ages 2 to 16, took to the ice Sunday at the Adirondack Bank Center for a new adaptive skating program.
The program is made possible by a grant from the Save of the Day Foundation.
The goal of the program is to get children with special needs out on the ice and adapt them with the proper skating equipment to do so.
The Adaptive Skating Program is the dream of Courtney Gouger.
"We're planning on having children buddied up with other children. Have them working together to build their skills, to boost their skills. Give them a chance to do something they never thought they would be able to do."
