Adirondack, Catskill campgrounds opening June 19

Several campgrounds in the Adirondacks and Catskills will open for the season starting Friday, June 19, for campers who have already made reservations.

Several campgrounds in the Adirondacks and Catskills will open for the season starting Friday, June 19, for campers who have already made reservations.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says they will not be taking any additional reservations or walk-in campers for the 2020 season at this time, but will honor existing reservations. The DEC is working to issue refunds for reservations made prior to June 19.

Day Use Areas will be open to the public for the following fees:

  • $6, $8 or $10 per car
  • $3, $4 or $5 per motorcycle
  • $35, $50 or $75 per bus
  • $2 per person (for walking into a facility)

The DEC has implemented new safety measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including reducing density to better facilitate social distancing.

The following Adirondack campgrounds are opening June 19:

  • Alger Island Campground
  • Buck Pond Campground and Day Use Area
  • Cranberry Lake Campground and Day Use Area
  • Eagle Point Campground and Day Use Area
  • Fourth Lake Day Use Area
  • Glen Island, Lake George Islands Campgrounds and Day Use Areas
  • Lake Durant
  • Lake George Battleground Campground
  • Lake George Battlefield Day Use Area
  • Lake Harris Campground and Day Use Area
  • Lewey Lake Campground and Day Use Area
  • Long Island, Lake George Islands Campgrounds and Day Use Areas
  • Meadowbrook Campground and Day Use Area
  • Narrow Island, Lake George Islands Campgrounds and Day Use Areas
  • Putnam Pond Campground and Day Use Area
  • Scaroon Manor Campground and Day Use Area 

The following campgrounds in the Catskills will open June 19:

  • Bear Spring Mountain Campground and Day Use Area
  • Little Pond Campground and Day Use Area
  • North-South Lake Campground and Day Use Area
  • Woodland Valley Campground 

The following campgrounds will open June 26: 

  • Limekiln Lake Campground and Day Use Area
  • Luzerne Campground and Day Use Area
  • Nicks Lake Campground & Day Use Area
