UTICA, NY – Easter egg hunts. They’re not just for the little ones.
On Saturday a sold out crowd of close to 100 adults showed up at the number 3 mansion on Rutger Street for an Easter egg hunt.
The eggs were filled with tickets for a wide variety of prizes that were donated by local businesses.
Participants were asked to dress in their Sunday best and wear homemade Easter bonnets.
Steven Grant, President of The Greater Landmarks Society of Greater Utica, says the money raised from the hunt will go towards the restoration of the mansion.
“There’s quite a bit of work left to do yet. The roof needs replacing number one. We’ve done quite a bit of patch work to it. We’ve stopped the water from coming in. It sat here for 20 years with very little maintenance done to it so there was quite a bit of water damage done to the upper floors and the plaster. So that will be the biggest thing we need to do yet.”
One lucky egg hunter was fortunate enough to find a special golden egg. That egg contained a prize for a private party at the mansion valued at $1,500.
