New Hartford, N.Y. - The third annual 'All in for Vin' basketball tournament began today.
This weekend's tournament featuring three local high school's JV and varsity teams is dedicated to the memory of New Hartford basketball player Vinny Maugeri who lost his life in 2016 in a tragic automobile accident.
Proctor and Auburn boys basketball teams squared off this afternoon to get things started.
It was a back and forth game from the start but the Proctor Raiders would come out on top. They win 74-62.
The tournament resumes Friday, November 29 at 4:15 p.m. with Proctor JV and varsity taking on New Hartford.
There is no admissions cost for the tournament but donations are being accepted to support youth-based causes.
"Vinny Maugeri loved the game of basketball. He enjoyed the competition, the court-time and most importantly, spending time with his teammates. He nurtured relationships within all who had the opportunity to play with him on the New Hartford Spartan basketball team. We celebrate the memory of Vin through this annual basketball tournament." stated New Hartforc boys basketball Head Coach John Randall
