CLAY, N.Y. – Amazon has started construction on a new distribution center in Clay, according to Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon.
The 3.7 million square-foot facility will be constructed at the site of the former Liverpoool Public Golf and Country Club.
McMahon says the facility is expected to bring more than 1,000 jobs to the region.
“Amazon is going to be, not a good neighbor, a great neighbor. There are two sides to every story. Amazon is calling Central New York home. New York state is well known for their regulations, so I’m sure things will work out. And we will make sure everyone lives up to their end of the bargain,” said McMahon.
Employees at the new warehouse will work with robotics to pack and send packages.
Construction is projected to be completed in September of 2021.
