UTICA, N.Y. – The Utica Zoo is hiring animal keeps, and people with various levels of experience can qualify.
The zoo is hiring for level one, two and three keepers, to work within assigned animal areas.
According to the zoo website, the qualifications and requirements are:
Keeper level one: Prior related animal care experience is preferred. Paid experience at an Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) accredited facility is preferred.
Keeper level two: A minimum of two years prior related animal care experience as determined by Utica Zoo is required. Paid experience at an AZA accredited facility is preferred. Assigned program coordination and are expected to have the experience required to elevate husbandry.
Keeper level three: A minimum of four years of animal care experience as determined by Utica Zoo is required. Paid experience at an AZA accredited facility is also preferred. Serves as liaison, ensuring information and needs are being funneled up to management level.
