UTICA – A holiday tradition will be put on hold this year as the annual Polar Express will not take place in 2020.
In a press release, the Adirondack Railway Preservation Society announced the popular train ride has been postponed, citing potential safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We appreciate the support of our guests over the years and the polar attraction has become a special event for many. The percentage of repeat riders is very high and has been viewed by us as a sign of success. We have chosen this course to assure the safety of our riders, to demonstrate a responsible approach to the problem, and to assure that the quality of the product will not be compromised by the constraints of the current situation.” says Bill Branson, President of the Adirondack Railway Preservation Society.
The society says the Adirondack Railroad will offer several options to guests who have already purchased a ticket for 2020.
- Move your 2020 reservation to 2021
- Transfer the reservation to a family member
- Request a refund
- Donate your purchase amount to the railroad
Customers who wish to choose one of these options are asked to do so by December 15 by emailing Polar2021@adirondackrr.com.
