To help burn off those Thanksgiving Day calories, many runners took their marks along the Memorial Parkway for the Utica Roadrunners’ annual Run for Hunger yesterday morning.
Hundreds of runners could be seen trolling along the Parkway for a good cause. Each runner contributed food donations to be distributed to local food pantries.
The 5K run and 2-mile walk kicked off after a kids’ fun run. Local friends, families and even some dogs came out to support the cause.
“Well just to run a race and get ready for Thanksgiving, you know. It's good to get out and start running before I start filling up tonight,” said runner David Sanders.
“And also to give back to the community,” said runner Jennifer Tesak. “We brought some canned goods and just really happy to be out here and see family and friends.”
