The Oneida County Board of Elections invalidated the signatures in question. State Supreme Court, in Oneida County, ruled them valid, and now, the Appellate Court, in Rochester, has affirmed that court's decision. This means Democrat, Michael Hennessy, will remain on that line in the Oneida County Executive's race this fall.
"I look forward to getting away from these lawsuits and talking about the issues that truly affect the voters of Oneida County," said Hennessy, following the September 4th decision.
"It's disappointing. Honestly disappointed, but I respect the court's decision and we'll move forward," said Republican Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente, Jr.
There would have been a race anyway, as Hennessy is on other party lines, but this means two major-party candidates in the county executive's race this fall. Their paths are expected to cross next month, at a forum sponsored by the Rome Chamber of Commerce.
