ORISKANY, N.Y. -- The Oneida County Sheriff's Department is in need of Special Patrol Officers (SPO’s). The officers would primarily work in local school districts in the county.

Officials with the sheriff’s department said to qualify you must be a retired police, peace officer, or a corrections officer. Another key requirement - you need a valid NYS pistol permit.

The county legislature voted last year to fund SPO’s for Oneida County school districts.
