UTICA, N.Y. – The Arc Herkimer will become the new owner of the Mohawk Valley Country Club in Little Falls -- where they plan to create work opportunities at the venue for people supported by the organization.
The Arc is planning to make some changes, including renaming the facility Mohawk Valley Golf and Event Center. They are also planning to expand the parking lots, extend golf trails and install a new sound system.
President Kevin Crosley says the purchase of the venue will allow them to continue supporting individuals that use their services by providing several part-time jobs.
“If you think about a golf course and a restaurant and bar, there are tremendous work opportunities for the people we support. We've identified 24 part-time jobs for the people we support here at the agency to help carry out our mission with this new venture,” he said.
Crosley also says the organization will pay the same amount of taxes on the property as the previous owners.
The golf course was originally opened in 1907, and is Herkimer County’s oldest golf course.
