WHITESBORO, NY - Some very talented student musicians gathered in Whitesboro Saturday for the 2018 Junior High All-County Concert.
Students from 14 different area school districts auditioned to be part of the festival and have been working with each other and special guest conductors for the past few days.
The concert was divided into three sections. Orchestra, chorus, and band.
"Music is such an important part of a student's education" says Jessica Decker, the festival's general chairperson. "We feel that it's part of educating the whole child. The arts are such an integral part of their education. Hosting an event like this is such an honor for Whitesboro because we're really encouraging their musical development in conjunction with their academic development too."
The students performed a wide range of musical selections.
Everything from Johann Strauss and Johannes Brahms to Pete Townsend of The Who.
