ALBANY, N.Y. -- Democratic Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, D-81, has introduced legislation that would require kids to get the COVID-19 vaccine to go to school.
The purpose of the bill reads: "To add immunization against COVID-19 to the statutory list of vaccines that students are required to receive as a condition of attending school. The requirement would only take effect upon full approval of such a vaccine by the U.S. FDA and upon the recommendation by the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices."
If passed, the bill would go into effect 30 days after being signed by the governor.
A similar bill was introduced in the Senate in August by Sen. Brady Hoylman, D-27.
