UTICA – Local gas prices have already fluctuated since the attack on a Saudi oil facility over the weekend.
According to AAA, the average price for a regular gallon of gas in the Utica-Rome area is about $2.72, which is 21 cents cheaper than this time last year.
Officials at AAA say prices could increase by anywhere from 5 to 25 cents in the near future. Some local residents have already seen a price hike of 20 cents or more in the past 12 hours.
The U.S. officials say the Iran-backed Houthi, who are fighting the Yemeni government, have claimed responsibility for the attack that is causing the increase in gas prices.
