VERNON, N.Y. -- With the help of anonymous tips called into the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, a man from the Town of Augusta is now charged in connection to Monday's hit and run motor vehicle accident in the Town of Vernon.
The crash happened right around 1:30 Monday morning when 46-year-old JH Waterman crashed into a Vernon residence along Route 26. Waterman then fled the scene of the accident.
Waterman was charged with aggravated unlicensed vehicle operation, leaving the scene of the property damage accident, failing to keep right on the roadway, failing to maintain a lane, and for having improper plates, and unsafe tires.
Waterman is scheduled to appear in the Town of Vernon court at a later date.
