FORESTPORT, N.Y. -- A fire left three people injured and destroyed a home early Wednesday morning in the town of Forestport.

It all started around 6:40 a.m. on Woodhull Road, and just before 8 a.m. the fire fully engulfed the home.

Officials say at least three people were transported to the hospital from smoke inhalation, but they made it out of the home OK.

The blaze has totally destroyed the two-story home, and temps in the low teens made it a very difficult fire to fight.

A portion of the home collapsed as crews were fighting the fire, and the power was cut from the home.

Water tankers had to be called to the scene, and a portion of Woodhull Road was closed.

The home is a total loss.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and the Red Cross is assisting the family.
