UTICA, N.Y. -- Summer can be a tough time for families to keep food on the table, but Tuesday, the task became a little easier.
Bargain Grocer kicked off a lunch service program at Kernan Elementary School, in Utica.
A total of 125 children are enrolled in a summer program there.
The kids were given sandwiches, vegetables, other snacks and drinks.
One school administrator is grateful the kids will have a healthy meal all summer.
"The program is to feed the kids lunch and a healthy snack, daily on a daily basis for the extended learning summer program. It runs through the month of August," said Michael Ferraro, a school administrator.
Bargain Grocer is run by Compassion Coalition.
