BARNEVELD, N.Y. - A small manufacturing company in Barnveld called GetEm Innovations is making plastic shields for hospitals, health care workers, and anyone who wants one.
Many health care workers across the country have been complaining they don't have enough equipment to protect themselves while they're working to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus so GetEm Innovations is innovating and coming to their aid as much as they can.
The company has two employees, its two founders, Gabriel and Emily Broomfield.
Their father, Lee Broomfield, has owned his own manufacturing company for decades, as did his own father before him.
Now, the third generation of manufacturing Broomfields is making a name for themselves.
Gabriel has the engineering mind and Emily is the brains behind the sales and marketing of their products, many of which are available on Amazon.
Products such as coat racks and uniquely carved wall hangings among many others.
Their latest product, face shields, are soon to be available on Amazon as well.
The product is made using the company's laser engraving and cutting machine.
Gabriel came up with the design and prototype in just about three hours last weekend and the pair, along with their dad, have been producing the shields for about a week.
GetEm Innovations already has orders from the New York City Police Department and Emily has been talking with area hospitals who might need these mass produced quickly and inexpensively.
The two Broomfields, who are only in their early 20's, are creating the face shields specifically to help health care workers, but they are offering them to anyone who wants one and they're only charging a minimal cost of about $8. They say will not price gouge, they are just looking to help since they literally have the tools to be able to.
