SYRACUSE, N.Y. - One of the oldest rivalries in college basketball will be reignited this coming 2021-22 season as the 'Battle of Central New York' will pit Syracuse against Colgate in men's basketball.
The neighboring programs will meet for the 173rd time on Saturday, November 20, at the Carrier Dome with tip-off time to be announced.
The teams did not square off last season, which ended a streak of 26 consecutive seasons where they went head-to-head.
Its a return of a rivalry that dates back to 1902, where the Orange lead the all-time series 127-45, including winning the last 54 straight match-ups.
The last time the Raiders beat 'Cuse was on February 24, 1962, where Colgate won 67-63 at Manley Field House.
In the last meeting, during the 2019-20 season, Syracuse won 70-54, with Buddy Boeheim leading the charge with 17 points.
Each team is coming off trips to the NCAA Tournament with the Orange advancing to the Sweet 16 before being knocked out by Houston.
Colgate won its second Patriot League championship in the last three years in March, but fell to Arkansas in the first round.
