BRIDGEWATER, N.Y--Bridgewater held its 5th annual Believe 271 5K road race on Saturday.
Just over one hundred runners came out to participate in the race that benefited local firefighters and women's auxiliary members suffering from diseases related to 911.
Race coordinators said that the community loves this race because it brings out a sense of camaraderie amongst residents fighting for the same cause.
The brotherhood and the way the community comes to support it. We're Just a small local town trying to help out when we can." said Deputy Fire Chief Eric Deking.
Many of the participants were running for Wayne Smoulcey. A firefighter that recently passed away from a form of cancer.
Organizers wanted to thank the community for coming out, and hope for an even bigger turnout next year.
