GERMAN FLATTS, N.Y. – The court appearance for Mathew Bienick, the man arrested after a standoff in the town of Russia, was adjourned Tuesday after the defense requested more time to gather information.
Bienick, 42, is charged with third-degree possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree harassment.
Police say Bienick barricaded himself inside his Military Road home in Russia for nearly 30 hours after a domestic dispute with a female at his residence. The woman told police Bienick threatened to kill her and himself, and punched her in the nose during the argument.
Bienick is scheduled to appear in German Flatts town court on Jan. 21.
