NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- Marquee Cinemas in New Hartford will undergo major renovations come January.
The cinema’s management group says the 14-screen theatre will remain open during the remodel, but boasts being able to provide a “one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.”
The theatre will offer over-sized luxury electric-powered recliners in all auditoriums, with roomy arm rests and an elevated foot rest. They will also add two large format Marquee Extreme Cinema auditoriums with floating screens, which offer better clarity and sound.
The cinemas will remain open through the construction process that begins in January 2019.
"The new upgrades will offer patrons a premium experience not currently offered in the market. We want the newly-renovated Marquee Cinemas to be a welcome retreat for guests to relax and feel right at home as they enjoy a movie,” said Robin Shumate, the director of Marketing for Marquee Cinemas said in a statement. “Our goal is to provide our customers with the best in entertainment. For nearly 15 years, it has been and will continue to be our pleasure to serve New Hartford and Oneida County.”
Phase one will include studios one through six, and the conversion process of studios seven and eight to MXC auditoriums.
Phase two will include the subsequent studios and the lobby, which is slated tobe complete by mid-May.
The carpet, lighting and wall coverings will also be updated as part of the process.
In addition to the reconstruction process, the Marquee will offer reserved seating, where people can pick exactly where they want to sit during their movie-going experience.
