ALBANY, N.Y. – The state Assembly and Senate have approved a bill that would allow the Village of Herkimer and Herkimer Central School District to trade two local parks.
The bill will allow the village to take possession of Earl Field, while the district takes over Harmon Field.
The legislation was sponsored by Sen. James Seward and Assemblyman Robert Smullen. Seward says this will allow for enhancement of the parks and more recreation opportunities for community members.
“As we continue to search for affordable, environmentally sound family activities, more and more people turn to our parks. I am pleased to help facilitate this land swap and clear the way for new outdoor options,” he added.
The bill will now be sent to Gov. Andrew Cuomo for final approval.
