UTICA – The new building addition at Kernan Elementary School is expected to be done by the time school starts.
Contractors are finishing up the Kernan Elementary School phase of the Capital Project.
While that project could finish on time, the cost of the project is rising.
At a board meeting on Tuesday, contractors mentioned seven change orders for the month August totaling $27,000. A change order is an amendment to the original contract. Those changes include additional necessary abatement within the 1913 building and the demolition process.
This is the final phase of the capital project before contractors begin planning for the athletic facility renovations.
Next, Contractors say planning for the athletic facilities renovations include getting necessary paperwork to the state, and getting permits done so that construction on the facilities can begin by next summer.
