VIENNA, N.Y. (UPDATE) -- The Oneida County Sheriff's Office confirms a body was found early Thursday morning following a large house fire in the Town of Vienna that broke out the night before.
Several fire crews responded shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to a large house fire at 8211 Deeley Road in the Town of Vienna. There were initial reports someone was trapped inside.
Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, fire crews found an adult body in the home. An examination will be performed by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police say the person's name will not be released at this time pending positive identification.
Fire officials say the home is a complete loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Crews from McConnellsville, Camden, Vienna, Taberg and AmCare Ambulance assisted at the scene.
In October of 2019, police say Joseph Cromp Sr. got into an altercation with his son and another man at this address. Cromp was later arrested after a 12-hour standoff with police at his home down the road. He is still in jail, and is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
