Utica, NY - The Boilermaker in conjunction with Mohawk Valley Community College hosted a meet and greet and presentation with two American Ninja Warriors.
Five- time national finalist of the NBC competition series, Daniel Gil and two-time Olympic medalist Jonathan Horton started off their day touring area schools and spreading their knowledge of physical and mental wellness.
The day concluded with a meet and greet at MVCC for Boilermaker volunteer committee members and their families and a presentation by the two athletes in Schafer Theater in Wilkes Hall.
The message from the athletes was simple.
Horton says, "My message here for the kids and my message here for everybody throughout my story is that you don’t have to be the most gifted and talented person in the world to do big things."
Gil added, "Training became a form of therapy for me. One it was an outlet for me just to release the stress and the tension and to be able to set goals, like i want to be able to perform this or complete this task or get on and do well on American Ninja Warrior has been incredible for me. So John and I both love the experience to go out whether its schools or camps or things like that and just share that message with those that watch and know us."
Both Daniel and Jonathan are publishes authors and say that they hope their experiences inspire others to stay mentally and phyiscally fit.
In case you missed them today, Daniel hinted that he may be back for the Boilermaker in July.
