“This unique take on Boilermaker 44 pays respect to the challenging and historic circumstances we find ourselves in while also looking forward to much better days, just ahead,” said Boilermaker Marketing Director Jordan Peters in an email statement. “The beloved finish line arch is a perfect symbol for the reunion of the Boilermaker with its community this fall.”
The 44th running of the Boilermaker Road Race will take place On October 10, three months later than usual, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the first year the Boilermaker is run in-person outside of its traditional date of the second Sunday in July. Last year’s race was run virtually.
Officials say they are not yet ready to open registration to runners, citing continued questions about capacity and other health guidelines. They hope to have more information available by mid-June.
