Republican Dennis Bova Jr. is the official winner of the Republican primary election for the 119th Assembly District, according to results from both the Oneida and Herkimer county boards of elections.
Bova defeated Republican challenger Frederick Nichols in a 992-928 vote, once all of the absentee ballots had been counted. On election night, the vote was 862 for Bova and 838 for Nichols.
Bova will face Democratic candidate Marianne Buttenschon in the general election on Nov. 6.
The 119th Assembly District is being vacated by Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.
