NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- Police have arrested a Utica man who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and pointed a gun at her head while holding her in a vehicle against her will.
New Hartford and Utica police departments worked together to locate and arrest 34-year-old John J. Linen Jr. on Wednesday, Oct. 6.
Three days prior on Oct. 3, the woman had called police around 7 p.m. to file a report. She told police she and Linen were arguing in his vehicle when he allegedly held a gun to her head before driving to a location in New Hartford. She claimed Linen assaulted her and when she tried to get away, he forced her back into the vehicle.
Police say the woman jumped out of the moving vehicle to get away from Linen out of fear for her own life. She went to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained throughout the ordeal.
Linen is charged with felony kidnapping, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, assault and harassment. He was arraigned and is being held at the Oneida County jail without bail due to prior felony convictions.
