UTICA, NY - After a one year absence due to covid 19, one of the Utica Zoo’s biggest fundraisers, Brewfest, returned in a big way.
The 22nd annual Brewfest took place at the Utica Zoo Saturday with hundreds in attendance at the 21 and over event.
Admission to the event included a commemorative pint glass so you could sample some of the over 100 beers that were on tap. Beers from not only our region, but from around the world. There was also plenty of food, a silent auction and live music.
The Utica Zoo is a non-profit organization, and fundraisers like this help keep it up and running.
“The funds from this event all go towards general operating funds,” says Brewfest chairman Gary Mundschenk. “They help feed the animals. They help pay the salaries. They help keep the lights on, and keep building what we need to build to enhance the life of our animal collection”.
For those that missed Saturday’s fundraising event, no need to worry, there’s another one right around the corner. Wine in the Wilderness returns to the zoo next month on September 25.
