SCHUYLER, N.Y. -- Congressman Anthony Brindisi says it's time our state got its fair share of federal infrastructure funding.
Joined by representatives of area labor unions on the Miller's Grove Road Bridge in the town of Schuyler, Brindisi announced legislation he's cosponsoring. The legislation looks at the amount of funding New York contributes to the Highway Trust Fund.
He says given the infrastructure challenges faced in upstate New York, the area is not getting its fair share back.
“We have challenges that other parts of the states and country and even the state don't have. It snows. We have ice. We lay a lot of salt on the roads up here. That eats away at our infrastructure and our roads and bridges,” said Brindisi.
He says New York sees 86 cents on the dollar sent to the feds right now.
